Ursula began working with Hill and Ponton in 2017 as a claims advocate – assisting in evidence development on veterans’ cases while attending law school. Law is a second career for her, and after years of working in the hospitality industry, she felt called to find meaningful work helping the people in her community.
She attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with “Honors in the Major” in Legal Studies. She authored a thesis on the legal landscape of Worker’s Compensation in Florida. She received several academic scholarships and earned magna cum laude distinctions.
Ursula was an academic scholarship recipient and attended law school at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Minnesota. She focused her studies on poverty law, bankruptcy, tax, and estates and wills and received an award for the highest grade in her business entity taxation course. She researched and studied the systemic racial issues within the VA and its processes and how VA’s claims process perpetuates poverty among veterans. She earned her J.D. with magna cum laude distinctions.
Outside of working with our nation’s veterans, Ursula is a mother and wife in a beautiful, blended family with six children. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time at home with her family.
