Few of us stop and take time in our busy lives to plan for what will happen if we become injured or disabled to the point that we are no longer able to work. As many Americans would agree, we have become so engulfed in our daily work schedule, routines, and other extracurricular activities that we have not contemplated what it would be like if we were not able to work. Yet, studies have shown that the chances of becoming disabled are greater than we realize. According to the Social Security Administration’s website, studies show that a 20-year-old worker has a 3-in-10 chance of becoming disabled before reaching retirement age. Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits (SSDI) and other programs provide a safety net for if that situation occurs.
This book is an attempt to provide workers with the information they need to seek benefits from Social Security and SSDI.
