If you are a disabled veteran who has filed a claim for VA disability benefits, then you may be wondering about the status of your claim.
How long is it going to take for the VA to make a decision? Are they even working on my case?
The good news is that there are several ways that you can check the status of your VA disability claim.
In this blog post, we will discuss three different methods: checking online, checking at the regional office, and calling the VA directly. Let’s get started!
How To Check VA Claim Status Online
The first method is to check online. The VA has an online portal where you can login and view the status of your claim.
Simply go to the VA’s website and enter your login information.
You should be able to see the “What Happens Next?” area to see the estimated wait length for a decision on your claim.
If your claim is already in the decision-making process, you will be able to see the “Decision History” section and view all of the decisions that have been made on your claim.
This is a great way to stay up-to-date on the status of your claim without having to call or visit the regional office.
However, if you prefer to speak to someone in person, you can always visit the regional office.
Checking Status of PACT Act Claim
To check the status of your PACT Act claim, you can visit the VA website and sign into your account using your existing Login.gov, ID.me, DS Logon, or My HealtheVet account.
If you don’t have any of these accounts, you can create a free Login.gov or ID.me account. Once you are signed in, follow these three steps:
- Go to your “My VA” dashboard. You can find the link for this dashboard in the top right corner of the page after signing in.
- Scroll down to the “Track Claims” section. Here, you’ll see a summary of the latest status information for any open claims or appeals you may have.
- Click on the “View Status” button for a specific claim. This will take you to a page with more details about that claim’s status and supporting evidence, which may include documents like a doctor’s report or medical test results. You can also find FAQs about the claim status tool on this page.
How to Check VA Claim Status at physical VA Regional Office
When you visit the office, be sure to bring a copy of your claim so that the staff can look up your information.
They should be able to tell you what stage your claim is in and give you an estimate of how much longer it will take to receive a decision.
How to Check VA Claim Status on the Phone (800-827-100)
If you would prefer to speak to someone over the phone, you can always call the VA directly.
The number for the Veterans Benefits Administration is 800-827-1000.
When you call, be sure to have your Social security number and/or claim number handy so that the VA rep can look up your information.
These are three great ways to stay on top of the status of your VA disability claim.
By regularly checking in, you can be sure that your claim is being processed in a timely manner.
If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to reach out to a qualified VA disability attorney who can help you through the claims process.
