Guam U.S. Naval Activities
Base Background
Located 3,300 miles west of Hawaii and 1,500 miles east of the Philippines, Guam U.S. Naval Activities is a U.S. territory with a long military history. Over the past few decades, the base has been contaminated with PFAS due to the use of firefighting foam (AFFF). These toxic “forever chemicals” pose serious environmental and health risks, as they persist in the environment and are difficult to remove. Veterans and families exposed to PFAS at Guam who are now facing health issues may be eligible for VA benefits or compensation.
