Schriever Air Force Base
Base Background
Schriever Space Force Base, located 10 miles east of Colorado Springs, was established in 1983 and originally named Schriever Air Force Base in honor of General Bernard Adolph Schriever, a pioneer in ballistic missile development. Home to the 50th Space Wing, the base provides command and control for over 170 DoD satellites.
