Maxwell-Gunter
Base Background
The Maxwell Air Force base is located in Montgomery, AL on the site of a former Wright Brothers flight school. The Gunter Annex opened as a separate station and was consolidated under Maxwell in 1992. Currently, Maxwell-Gunter is home to the 908th Airlift Wing, 42nd Air Base Wing, and the Headquarters Operations and Sustainment Systems Group. The base is a center for professional military education.
