Naval Support Activity Monterey
Base Background
The Naval Support Activity Monterey is a Naval Academy postgraduate school. The idea for the school was established in the 1940’s and it opened in 1951. Currently, the site supports the Navy Research Lab (NRL) , Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), and more. The site also offers a variety of study programs, including engineering, space science, and homeland security.
